Modular homes are like manufactured (HUD code) homes but are built to a state code, rather than the federal HUD code. A modular home is built in a factory, but shipped to the homeowners property in several different pieces. They are assembled on a permanent foundation, and often have full basements. To the casual observer, they look very similar to a site-built home, and they are equally as durable and well-constructed. They come in a large number of floorplan options, from small, 1 story homes, to large, sprawling 3 story homes. There really are a lot of options when purchasing a modular home.
