Even Billionaires Love Living in a Manufactured Home

Have you heard of Elon Musk? We’re betting the answer is ‘yes.’ As of 2021, Elon Musk is the wealthiest person in the world, with a net worth of close to $220 billion. To put that in perspective, $220 billion is enough to purchase over 2 million Tesla Model 3s or C8 corvettes. Musk has founded many companies, including Tesla, SpaceX, the Boring Company, and Paypal. He continues to innovate and start new ventures to this day, and he is actively involved in creating various forms of artificial intelligence.

When we think of billionaires like Musk, we typically picture their homes as sprawling mansions with massive, ornate gardens, swimming pools, tennis courts, huge garages, and a helicopter pad. It might surprise you, however, to learn that Musk lives in a manufactured home in Starbase, Texas. Based on images online, it appears that Musk is living very modestly and comfortably in a factory-built home, right next to the SpaceX headquarters.

Elon Musk’s Manufactured Home

Musk is living in a 20×20 manufactured home built by Boxabl Casita. This unit is actually a base model unit, priced at around $50,000. The Boxable home was made nearby in Boca Chica, Texas (no word on where Musk got his manufactured home insurance, though!).

Its construction consists of concrete panels and steel, making it a very durable home. It’s light, easy to assemble, and can be easily transported by many different vehicles. In fact, this manufactured home is so light it can be towed by a Tesla model Y. Just take a look at the video below from Boxable:

According to Boxable, this unit features full wiring and plumbing and is solar power compatible as well. The unit is also liveable right from purchase, with a fully equipped kitchen. This does mean that the unit doesn’t have much in the way of customization options yet, but the company is building a new manufacturing plant.

Whether you’re a billionaire or schoolteacher, manufactured homes offer the best housing solution for those looking for value, affordability, modern features, and convenient design. Enjoy the photos below, and please consider Covertree when it comes time to find manufactured home insurance.
